NAV DATA
Up-to-date navigation files can be obtained from Navigraph. The Navigraph FMS Data is sourced from Jeppesen, a professional navdata provider for major airlines worldwide. The database is therefore very large and comprehensive. It covers the entire world and is based on every standardized type of navigational data currently available. The Instructor Station navigation database is contained in the following 3 files: earth_awy.dat earth_fix.dat earth_nav.dat Navigation aids are stored in the earth_nav.dat file. This file includes the location, ID, name frequency and range of global NDBs, VOR/VORTACs, DMEs, ILS components (localizers, glideslopes, marker beacons and associated DMEs). Fixes (intersections) are stored in the earth_fix.dat file. Airways are stored in the earth_awy.dat file. Aeronautical Information Publications are kept up-to-date by regular revision on a fixed cycle. For operationally significant changes in information, the cycle known as the AIRAC (Aeronautical Information Regulation And Control) cycle is used: revisions are produced every 56 days (double AIRAC cycle) or every 28 days (single AIRAC cycle). These changes are received well in advance so that users of the aeronautical data can update their flight management systems (FMS). For insignificant changes, the published dates calendar used. |
