Google Earth Sectional Overlays

To visualize an active or saved flight with Instructor Station, Google Earth is the perfect tool. FAA charts are georeferenced, meaning they can be downloaded, imported into Google Earth and they will be displayed over the correct location.

This is useful for flight planning or checking out what the landmarks/obstructions/airports look like.

It's pretty simple:

1) Download and unzip the TIFF file and save it.

2) Start Google Earth and open the file just saved. Google Earth will create a super-overlay so it can display the whole chart at resolution. You can then save it in Google Earth so its always there, ready to use.

Google Earth can be downloaded here.
